So You Think You Can Dance

.Friday and Saturday Elise was in a dance competition in Spanish Fork. She was amazing!!!
Friday she performed her solo. She was the youngest in her group and she took 1st. The incredible thing was that she created her own routine. It was so good it brought tears to my eyes.
Saturday she competed four more times. Taking 1st in three and 3rd in one. She is an amazing dancer with an ability that is overwhelming. I am so proud of her and love watching this shy, petite little thing burst when dancingShe was a stinker and wouldn't give me a straight faced smile. She was a poser Friday night.

Treats

I was so excited to try a new recipe out on some friends. I made Lemon cupcakes (not from a box) with a yummy icing, dipped in sugar crystals, and topped with shredded white chocolate and lemon zest.

They turned out so pretty and everyone loved them! Some took seconds and others asked to take some home.

Easter Morning

Kade came in and woke me up and 7:30 asking if the Easter Bunny came. I totally forgot to put everything out!!! I told Kade that I was certain he had come but, it was still to early and he needed to go back to bed. He is such a good kid, he went back to bed. I waited until I could hear him breathing heavy and snuck into the guest room to get everything.

The Easter Bunny was so good to us this year. We got games, clothes, books, toys, money, candy, and Matt & Kade's favorite... Pistachios.
We are so thankful for our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are grateful everyday for the Atonement and what it means to each of us. We are so blessed to know that our Eldest Brother loved and loves us so much that he died for us. What a beautiful story to hear time and again of the empty tomb. It always gives me the chills and I love it. He lives!

Easter Egg Hunt

I have been so behind! We had a great Easter weekend (despite the flu). Saturday my parents had their annual Easter Egg hunt for family and friends. We had about half the group we normally have and it was at their home because it was so chilly. The kids didn't mind.
Everyone made fun of Kade for wearing this shirt, telling him he was dressed for the wrong Holiday. He would simply laugh and say, 'then why are you wearing that scary mask?'. All the guys thought that was hilarious.Bubba was a riot! He was more interested in collecting a treat eating it and then moving on to the next.If his mom and dad weren't helping him, he would have been out there for hours collecting his Easter stuff.
Macie was a riot, she had chocolate all over. I tried getting a photo of it but, Val beat me. She had her face all cleaned up when I finally got a semi glance from Macie. Valleri had been in Montana with her mom and had just returned home a couple of hours before the hunt. Macie would only go to Shawn.Grandma and Grandpa had a mean game of baseball for the kids to play after the hunt. They hit a bunny instead of a ball. It was hilarious.
Maryn, Hannah, and Eli were all waiting for a turn at batting.
Carson Jack was our best first baseman.Nick, Spencer and Sadie were all trying to cover 2nd. Sadie had the 'ball' and wasn't exactly sure what to do with it.After baseball and lunch we spent the rest of the afternoon visiting and playing DODGE-BALL, one of our favorite Sunday activities at Grandma and Grandpa's. Thanks Mom and Dad for the fun, food and memories.

Movie Reviews

14 Years and the Flu

What a week I have had. Last Wednesday I was knocked for a loop. I can't remember the last time I have been this ill. I haven't had a flu shot in years because I always get a horrible reaction. But oh, this past week I wished desperately that I had. I was in bed for the better part of a week.

Matt and Kade were so good to me. Whatever I needed (water, a hot bath drawn, or a cold wet towel) was given to me graciously. Matt truly tried to stay ontop of the house work. This picture says it all...

As for the 14 Years... We celebrated our 14th wedding Anniversary. Matt was a good sport. He let me sleep in until 10AM, then we went test driving new Toyota's (LOVE LOVE LOVE), went to Ruby River for lunch (I couldn't taste a thing and ended up giving Matt my meal), bought Kade new soccer cleats, bought some plants for the yard, went home and planted them. Then Matt took Kade to guitar lessons and soccer. Not the most romantic anniversary but, when you have been ill and have no energy, you don't expect or want much. I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!

Scouts

I have been in bed with the flu since Wednesday. Even though I would love to stay curled up in bed or in a HOT bath, being a mom cannot be put on hold. Kade had scouts Wednesday and he got to share one of his collections, ROCKS, ROCKS, ROCKS. I spent the day making a velvet board for him to display them on. He did such an amazing job explaining where he found some of the rocks: Earthquake Lake, hiking, Colorado, Wyoming, etc. He also told everyone how they polish rocks, with diamond dust and water. He did such a great job.

Are We Ever Going To Move?

Kade asked me if I thought we were ever going to move. I told him that I didn't know(Matt and I want land, and we oh so do not have it here) and asked why. He was admiring his door and told me that he hoped we didn't because that would mean he would have to take down his door signs.

Matt and I got a good laugh out of it! We would have thought that he wouldn't want to leave his friends, school, pack his room, etc. But NO, not Kade, he doesn't want to have to take down his home-made, DO NOT ENTER signs. Oh to be 8 again.

Luck o' the Irish

Being Irish I thought it not only appropriate to wear green but to pay tribute to it on my blog.

We would like to share an old Irish Blessing with you:

And, a saying that never gets old:
Ta mo bhriste tri thine! (My Trousers Are On Fire!)

Candy Necklaces

We had so much fun making candy necklaces and bracelets at Grandma and Grandpa Smiths last night for Family Night. They are so simple, cheap and only require three ingredients: needle, jewelry elastic, and jelly beans.

Thread the needle, poke through the jelly beans, tie elastic into a knot, wear, eat, TA DA!
Kade, Sadie, Halle, Karlee
Cael (we were never able to make him one, he was more interested in simply eating the jelly beans)
Kade was a great sport...'mom, just make one for me. I don't want to do this right now.'
Sadie had the most enjoyable time. She was the only one that made both a necklace and a bracelet.

Reading Anonymous

Matt thinks I need help, and maybe I do. The verdict is still out...
Since February 21st I have read:

Darling for pre-teen, teen and women. Easy Read

Half way through this one. Cute, like The Goose Girl. Easy read.

I was obsessed with these and dedicated a blog(see below).

Ahh, Left To Tell. ImmaculĂ©e shares her miraculous story of how she survived during the Rwanda genocide in 1994 when she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor’s house for 91 days! In this captivating and inspiring book, ImmaculĂ©e shows us how to embrace the power of prayer, forge a profound and lasting relationship with God, and discover the importance of forgiveness and the meaning of truly unconditional love and understanding—through our darkest hours. I recommend this to all women.

Hiking the Y

Jerid, Matt, Nicholas and Kade hiked to the Y Saturday. They had a great time. Kade and Nicholas came back muddy to the knees and chilled to the bone.

Just before they left I held my breath hoping Matt wouldn't ask for the camera...he did. I have lost my camera. I tore my house apart... no luck. Went through all of my purses (Matt gets upset with me because I am constantly changing purses, I am addicted), and went through our vehicles. No avail.

If you know of a good camera please share. Appears that I we are in the market for a new one.

We are crAzY for...

NUTELLA, it is a chocolate hazelnut spread. We have been making crepes for dessert. Spread Nutella in the center of your crepe and line with fresh fruit, roll and enjoy. Or, skip the crepe business and eat straight from the jar. LOL

Guitar Lessons

(Kade loves this quitar)
O.K. I know I said I would post pictures but, I still haven't taken any. I am SO prOUd of Kade! His teacher keeps bragging that Kade is his best sight reader and his youngest student. Kade is so fun to watch. Practicing isn't quite the strUgglE it was in the beginning.

Two weeks ago we were on our way to a birthday party and this was our conversation...

kAdE: Mom, the guys and I have decided what to do with all of our money we make from concerts.
mE: Oh really, what is that?
kAdE: We are going to pay ourselves $50 each, because that is a lot of money (mE thinking, HA HA HA). With the rest, we are going to donate it to people that don't have all the stuff we do.
mE: (between a tearful sob)You are going to be an awesome band leader!

Yes, I am a very lucky mama with a son that loves life, is courageous, thinks of others feelings before his own, and is all mine!!!
(And, he wants this guitar)
